In a move that probably surprised no one, Universal Studios Orlando, once again, will be bringing the dead back to life in an all new “The Walking Dead”, anthology, house.
Confirmed to be in a Sound stage with a yet unannounced original, the experience will culminate with iconic scenes from Season 6, where guests will trudge through a decomposed sewer and try to evade the brutal pack of villains, The Wolves, after they’ve invaded Alexandria. Along the way, they’ll rush to avoid the bite of the show’s most memorable walkers – including some that have never been seen before at “Halloween Horror Nights.”
For some, the big question is, will this be the last year for “The Walking Dead”? Indeed, this is the show’s 5th year at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando and they are clamoring for something new. But, it is a popular “Halloween Horror Nights” staple at Universal Studios and “The Walking Dead” has turned into an immersive 365-day experience in Hollywood. It invites guests to step into a no-holds-barred zombie apocalypse. Brought to life with immersive detail, the new theme park attraction and “Halloween Horror Nights’’ offering is a collaboration with AMC and series Executive Producer and Director Greg Nicotero, whose special effects company, KNB Efx, raises the dead on the blockbuster TV series as well as for Universal Studios’ new permanent daytime attraction.
With the new permanent ride in Hollywood and the shows popularity still going strong these fans may have to wait awhile. Either way, this year’s event is shaping up to be slammed packed with thrills. The already announced Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are proving that point with many rumored heavy-hitters left to be announced.
