CLICK HERE for a glimpse at the terror from “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre”
It’s never too soon to start obsessing. After Mike Aiello, Director of Creative Development at Universal Studios Orlando, dropped some hints on twitter last night we had a feeling we would be seeing a classic movie revealed today:
Even with the Dreaded “SOON” in the tweet Universal did not disappoint.
That’s right! LeatherFace is returning to Universal Studios Orlando but this time in his Classic 1974 incarnation!
For those in the know, you will recall HHN 17, 2007, brought us Marcus Nispel’s 2003, gritty remake of TCM. It was a big hit with fans and the casual attendee alike. Now Universal is resurrecting the original cult classic “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” – one of the greatest horror films ever made – to come to life as an all-new maze at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 26.
For those who haven’t seen the original… seriously?!? I mean I know it’s 42 years old but the movie is a legend. Go watch it right now… no seriously do it.
OK, you are probably at work or something. No it’s cool. Just watch it at some point, OK?
Anyway, Tobe Hooper’s classic film follows a group of friends on a road trip to visit a family homestead. When they seek assistance at a house nearby, they become the prey of a cannibalistic family.
This year at HHN, you will walk through the iconic Texas farmhouse and experience Leatherface’s kills from the 1974 slasher film. You will desperately try to escape as the violent roar of his chain saw surrounds you. You will hear the cries – and see what remains – of Leatherface’s other victims. And you will come face-to-face with Leatherface himself.
Aside from some hints at an original house called “Cobweb”, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” is the first in a horrifying list of mazes to be revealed at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 26. Additional details about the event will be revealed soon.
Halloween Horror Nights 26 will run select nights from September 16 to October 31. Guests can book a special vacation package that combines the spine-tingling chills of Halloween Horror Nights, with the daytime thrills of Universal Orlando’s two theme parks, and a stay at Universal Orlando Resort’s newest on-site hotel, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.
